Thank goodness for Project Quilting (and Kim Lapacek), my excuse to get back to blogging! I almost skipped this challenge, because I’m knee-deep in the creative process of the Modern Quilt Guild Riley Blake Challenge, but I really wanted to get started on the first challenge of the season. Participation is such a great motivator! So I decided to go for a quick and straightforward project yesterday. I started and finished two bed pillows to coordinate with the new quilt I made for my husband for Christmas. (more…)
Ok, so it’s not really a thing that I usually do “Work-in-progress Wednesday”, but I have a few things in progress to tell you about that won’t be complete stories for quite some time, so it seems like a good idea!
1. Crane Star Pillow…
I saw this on the Patchwork Pottery Blog by Laurraine Yuyama and eagerly awaited the pattern release. I’m not a huge paper-piecing fan, although I’m getting pretty adept in it with all that Farmer’s Wife practice! But I AM a huge origami fan, so this pattern just jumped out at me as something I had to make! I love the way the paper piecing mirrors the folds in a real paper crane! (more…)
I got all excited about two weeks ago when I thought up a new product (A Quiltie Pillowcover) and the first one turned out great! But wait, there are no pillowcovers in my shop?! Well, it turned out too great! I’m keeping this.
My rationale is that I got that brown flowered fabric as a Christmas gift from my mom. And I love it! I have two other quilties in the works using other fabrics from that bundle, but I don’t want to give them ALL away! So, I think I’m going to be making more pillowcovers. It’s a great idea, practical-minded and just as easy to make as a quiltie (frankly, easier!), so I’m excited to have come up with a new product. I’m just not ready to roll it out yet.
