Recognize this?

Well, if you quilt, you should! It’s a great source of inspiration for free motion quilting! From Leah Day’s blog Free Motion Quilting Project.
The above is a pic of the place to go to see all Leah’s designs in a Flickr gallery. Handy for finding what you want on a quilt…then go back to her blog to watch the video on how to make it…Easy! Free Motion Quilting Design Flickr Gallery

How about this?

Free Motion Quilting Project

Well, you probably don’t because I just designed it. It’s Leah’s new logo for her blog. I hope you see more of it now and visit her blog often.

She wrote a nice post about it here, with a link to my professional graphic design site and a button you can copy to put in the sidebar of your blog, if you have one!

I love Birthdays!

September 4th, 2008 | Posted by Emma in All | Design - (0 Comments)

It’s a very special day today, my husband’s birthday!! I’ve been working like crazy on a quilt for him…that I can’t reveal yet, in case he’s reading this. (Happy Birthday, Dear!)

And yesterday I was working on a birthday party invitation that I’d like to share. It’s for a three year old girl! I had so much fun finding cute little monkeys and then creating a swirly pink jungle for them to swing around in! Graphic designer play time!!

Creative Postcard Club

May 2nd, 2008 | Posted by Emma in All | Design - (0 Comments)

The Creative Postcard Club is “a group of professional designers, illustrators, design students and creatives alike from around the world who enjoy corresponding through our own postcard creations.” I have participated in many “rounds” of creating a postcard based on an assignment. Here’s the latest.

The assignment was to design a magazine cover. We were given a choice of three titles, but that was it. The rest of the content was up to the participants. If you’d like to see what the other members come up with, they’ll be posted later in May. (See the link in the blogroll.)

If you’re a graphic designer, be sure to check it out. It’s a really fun way to keep those creative juices flowing! Us quilters and craftspeople know that we hone our skills through practice, but I seldom think about doing that for my job. But really I should! Practice and self-made challenges are great ways to learn new skills, push boundaries and play in new directions…things that aren’t always possible in the parameters of the day-to-day business projects. That’s my two-cents…go out and challenge yourself!!

Wallpaper Design

April 30th, 2008 | Posted by Emma in All | Design - (0 Comments)

I just completed a fun graphic design project for a current client. If you know me, you will laugh, because I’m not a racing fan at all, but with this project, hmmmm….. My sons really liked watching me work on it! I took some photos supplied by the client, added their logos and created 6 wallpaper designs for fans of Michael Annett. They are currently available at MichaelAnnett.com

Here’s a sneak peek:

Website Redesign

March 17th, 2008 | Posted by Emma in All | Design - (0 Comments)

You may have noticed that my website changed a little. I kept the same graphics and feel, but I’ve recreated it for better search engine optimization. (So I hope!) This means that there is now more text, as text, and fewer images that contain text. That way the search engines can read my site and catalog it.

I expanded the table a bit, as I’m thinking people have bigger screens these days. I know, lots of you are on laptops, but, my brother just got a 24″ screen Mac, so I know some folks out there are upgrading!! (Lucky you!) I also updated my nav bar and changed the background color from black to a softer gray.

Search engine optimization is a complex topic and I have just begun to research it. I found a couple good articles, but have lost the links! When I find them again, I will post. http://www.conversationmarketing.com is one good place to start reading, if you’re interested.
