Project Quilting 5:3 Candy

This week’s Project Quilting Challenge: Candy!! I have a sweet tooth, yes I do, but for this challenge the first thing that came to my head wasn’t actually candy…it was the game “Candy Crush Saga!” I totally love playing that game on my ipad or iphone whenever I’m waiting in the carpool lane or otherwise away from my studio and need chill time. So I decided to make this project a bag that could carry my stuff AND my ipad when I go out.

I love this bag so much, I’m giddy!!

Raw edge appliquéd on candies, in a free-motion-quilted grid. The color bomb candy has multi-colored french knots!

Under the flap, you can see we did well this round, three stars!

Inside it’s just a nicely sized messenger bag. Fits lots! I put fusible fleece on the front, back and linings, to make it really well padded and sturdy. Stands up by itself practically. The coordinating fabrics are really that bright! I’m pretty glad I just had fat quarters, because I had to get creative and use two fabrics for the handles and two different for the linings and back of flaps. It just makes it so happy and colorful, I’m going to love toting this around!

Thanks Project Quilting! I couldn’t be happier with these challenges! So. Much. Fun!!
