I may just be a little nuts, but I just found another thing in my home that needed a quilt…my George Foreman Grill! I have been eating grilled sandwiches almost every day for lunch and trying to wedge it back into a high corner of my cupboard after every meal…usually causing a crash down of a few spices in the process. So I decided to keep the thing on my counter. But its just not pretty enough for that. (more…)
One of my favorite parts of getting together with my small group of quilting friends is our show-and-tell! I love the inspiration from seeing their projects, in progress and finished works of art…but we also enjoy sharing our shopping finds. Someone usually brings their newest fabric purchases for us to oooh and aaah over and we pass around books and point out projects we’d like to make.
This was one of those Tricia brought, where everyone was saying “Emma that looks like something you should make”…they were so right! I had to buy the book for myself shortly after that meeting and started making things shortly after it arrived at my house! (more…)
And in case you didn’t know what to do with your marbled fabric, here’s what I made with some of Brennan’s! (more…)
My mom showed us a fun art project the last time she came to visit…and you’ve just got to try this. Whether you have kids to do it with or want to make some beautiful fabric to quilt with, this is a project where you will love the process as much as the result! (more…)
Ok, so it’s not really a thing that I usually do “Work-in-progress Wednesday”, but I have a few things in progress to tell you about that won’t be complete stories for quite some time, so it seems like a good idea!
1. Crane Star Pillow…
I saw this on the Patchwork Pottery Blog by Laurraine Yuyama and eagerly awaited the pattern release. I’m not a huge paper-piecing fan, although I’m getting pretty adept in it with all that Farmer’s Wife practice! But I AM a huge origami fan, so this pattern just jumped out at me as something I had to make! I love the way the paper piecing mirrors the folds in a real paper crane! (more…)
Hi! I have another baby quilt project to tell you about. This one my mom and I worked on together for our family friend, Assi, and her new baby. Assi, from Finland, lived with us as a foreign exchange student in high school, so we consider her part of the family. She calls me aunt Emma!! I really hope to meet her daughter someday. We made this in the spring, but I didn’t want to write about it until the quilt was received in Finland. Now I can gaze at the photos she sent me of her sweet baby on her quilt! (more…)
Thank you to all those who came to the Opening Reception!! It was a wonderful event! I so much enjoyed talking about my quilts and the genuine interest in the whole room. Teresa told a wonderful story about veterans who had enjoyed my work already and I hope there are many more stories like that in the coming nearly two months!
If you weren’t able to come, but still live near enough to go to the gallery, please do! It is best to go in the afternoon, for parking, but then you should have no trouble finding the gallery if you go in the main doors and ask at the information booth when you walk in.
I’ll post photos soon…
My small group (minus one) made a group project together (for the one) again…something we seem to do quite often for a group only a few years old. And this was one of the most fun!! It was for Jonah, Dawn’s baby boy. We started it before he was born, but he is here now and wonderful! I got to hold him at the guild meeting last week and it was such a joy! Anyway, we also knew that Dawn already had plans for the nursery. It is a colorful room based on the monsters quilt I made this winter (and she bought). So we looked for a colorful design for our quilt and found this by Red Pepper Quilts. (more…)
Ok, I guess I have writers block…because I can’t think of anything to say, but I wanted to show you this project! So here are some photos! It’s a custom order nursery set of quilties. (more…)
Hey, I can’t believe how long it’s been since I last posted something!! And honestly I’ve stayed away a little longer than I even wanted to, just because I didn’t look forward to catching up…so I’m going to make it quick and then move on, what do you say?! (more…)
